- rich cLove this place. Over the years, Doug's probably worked on every one of my guitars. Had a setup done yesterday on a new acoustic guitar and couldn’t believe how good the instrument sounded after. I haven't found any other shops in the area that take walk-ins or provide such high quality luthiery work. Great instrument selection as well.
- Tom CReally enjoyed popping into this local instrument shop. The guy there (I'm assuming was the owner?) was super courteous and kind. A lifelong drummer, I'm barely learning guitar and harmonica now. He helped educate me on all kinds of guitars, harmonica tips and more. And check out this rad didgeridoo! Definitely make the trip to support this shop over the big box stores in other nearby towns. You'll be happy you did. And while you're there, pop by the Train Car Cafe for a delicious coffee and their world famous mini donuts while sitting in antique train cars! While you're happiness of the day is peaking, make it overflow by stepping next door afterwards to the Carousel of Happiness. Also, a gem of our country! (Yes, I said country, not just town, city or state.) Thanks Brightwood!
- Rodger K2 years ago, I bought a ukulele here. I figured it would pass the COVID time and also stimulate my 60 year old brain. I never played any instrument previously. Doug, the owner, suggested a modestly priced VTAB ukulele (maybe $80?). He was not at all pushing me to buy an expensive instrument, he was just encouraging. Yesterday, a string broke and I took it in to buy some new ones. Doug showed me how to re-string it (no charge!) and explained a lot of things (what's a low vs. high G string?, how capos work? etc. etc.). I bought a peg winder and a capo and a low G string, and an extra set of strings. I highly recommend this store to get started on a new hobby. The $80 I spent on the uke is the best $80 I've ever spent. I've learned from the internet and practiced 30 min every day. I can play probably 50 songs (not from memory, but with chord sheets.) I could probably play another 100, now that I know the basics. I've learned that music is a lifelong, really fun hobby. It's super fun to...
